Cheapest Lucid Air Recalled Because The Drive Motor Wiring Harness Is Too Short

Over 1,500 Lucid Air Pure electric cars are being remembered by the California-based car manufacturer since they were fitted with a rear drive motor subframe electrical wiring harness that’s much shorter than the initial layout.

This could cause excess tension on the harness connector, which in turn can result in minimized or complete loss of power from the rear-mounted motor. The Lucid Air Pure is the entry-level version of the four-door sedan and is powered by a solitary, rear-mounted drive device.

The afflicted cars were assembled in between November 29, 2023, and October 17, 2024. Lucid Motors began exploring the concern in June and recognized seven instances where Air Pure EVs encountered a loss of power due to the shortened circuitry harness.

Certain 2024 and 2025 model-year devices are affected by the recall. In total, 1,539 U.S.-market cars are part of the recall. If something fails because of the shortened harness, owners may see one the adhering to caution messages: Drive System Warning, Contact Client Treatment; Drive System Fault, Contact Customer Treatment; Drive System Mistake, automobile powering down in 2 minutes; Driving Power Decreased, Vehicle can be driven yet performance might be limited; brake System Fault; Drive with caution and call Client Care quickly; Regenerative Braking temporarily Decreased; Automatic Automobile Hold Fault, Use brake pedal to hold lorry and get in touch with Customer Treatment.

Lucid stated the original back drive system subframe wiring harness length style was “unintentionally reduced.” A documentation adjustment caused the company buying the wrong length circuitry harnesses, the company claimed in the recall report released by the National Highway Web Traffic Safety Management (NHTSA).
